My Plan to Make an AI Launch Marketing Agent
Now we venture out into the market! This post shares my plan for an AI agent who can do the launch marketing for each of my AI made directories.
This is the part I’m most worried about 😅. Are AI agents really ready to start selling stuff and link-building? Let’s find out.

How I’m Making an AI Launch Marketer Agent
AI Marketing Aims
The main aim for this AI marketer agent is to achieve a degree of automated promotion for my web directories (now generated by AI/automations). This will form part of the AI Directory Maker experiment, but will also be reusable in future AI business experiments.
Our AI Launch Marketer will need, at minimum, to achieve:
- SEO/Passive value growth of the website (generate traffic via long-term content discovery)
- Social media interactions (generate traffic via direct promotion)
- Sell directory listings or Generate community

… in short our agent must increase traffic, and then convert that traffic into revenue.
Agent Methodology
Before we set about building AI agents it’s imperative we understand what we’re trying to achieve and roughly how we want to achieve it. This is why I’ve split the Launch & Ongoing marketing tasks into two buckets.

First we’re going to tackle the Launch bucket. What follows is my design for an AI Launch Marketer agent built on:
- My personal experience – I’ve been selling software online for 15+ years, in that time I’ve built up my own playbook of launch approaches. Some of these have been rendered useless in recent years, but a chunk still ‘work’.
- AI Advice – I’m going to open the floor to a range of LLMs to suggest what’s missing from my playbook and see if we can’t uncover low-hanging fruit
- External Services – There are a few places we can trade launch budgets for exposure/SEO value, we’ll be dabbling here (getting the agent to place the order!)
For now, we’ll focus on getting agents able to carry out tactics; all the while keeping an eye on fresh AI tools and models so that when the tech is ready, we can hand over overall marketing strategy and ownership to an AI agent.
New here? Welcome! This is the journey of building a 100% automated AI business in 2025. You’re jumping in after we’ve already kicked things off, so you might want to catch up first.

Ethics & Reality – Parameters for my AI Launch Marketer Agent
Before building agents which will have direct contact with the outside world, it’s time to think about ethics.
What’s okay for the AI agent to do?
- Buying links…okay?
- “Parasite marketing” on socials…okay?
- Sabotaging competitors…not for me?
- AI’s impersonating humans…okay?

Because we’ve not got (legit) self-tooling full AI agents yet we don’t have to worry about dirty tactics being used on-the-fly. We will only make agents/automations for our chosen tactics. Per-act though, we want to steer copy-writing, outreach style, and such.
In short, we want to add value & do no harm.
I’m going to be appending the following to any outward-action prompt:
Remember, you are a key person in the team at {business-x}, you want to make sure to uphold the team manifesto:
- Add value (or return an empty string). Aim for content to be 95% no-nonsense value, 5% selling
- Do no harm (better to return an empty string, than something which may inflict harm on another)
- Zero BS. Always say things as plainly as possible
Will this lead my copy-bots to be less manipulative?
Will it effect the competitive edge of this project?
In reality, pretty much everyone else making marketing bots won’t bother with this prompt addition. Their marketing may work better.
Let’s see.
Changeability & AI Oceans – Timing and Limitations
Last year when I was ‘back in the lab’ making products and websites and trying to launch them, nothing was more obvious than that the marketing sands had shifted.
- Covid let people try side-hustles
- More engineers than ever
- LLMs started engineering, product dev
- LLMs opened firehoses of slop
Each change built on the previous in those past few years. Now, the internet now is much louder.

Perhaps you can forgive me a little analogy:
We’re launching ships run by automaton captains.
In the age of merchants and master shipbuilders, building a single vessel meant felling a forest and hiring artisans; but the trade routes were charted and calm.Today the seas have changed. Currents shift hourly, storms come out of nowhere, and flotillas of look-alike ships crowd every horizon. The upside? With a fraction of the old effort, you can launch ten vessels and reach ports your ancestors only dreamed of.
Yet every harbour, (your prospect’s inbox, their search results, their social timeline), is increasingly choked by AI-powered hawkers barking em-dash-filled pitches. The new game is plotting original courses, choosing ports the noise hasn’t claimed, and staying flexible enough to carry cargo no one else carries.
TL;DR; Marketing tactics tend to wash-out, that’s going to happen much faster now.
… so I will time box creation of any one automation, remembering that we’re aiming for manoeuvrability here.
The Initial Launch Marketing AI Agent
So here’s the plan based on my previous experience and my playbook sheet. These are things I think we can approach with an AI agent that should fit within our ethics and time parameters.
I did a little experiment to see which AI model is currently the best at marketing, so the items marked * came from an AI.
Category | Tactic |
---|---|
On-Site SEO / Value | Add an actual ‘buy listing’ page to our directories (so we have something to sell) |
Add Structured Data Schema to pages* | |
SEO (core on-page optimisation) | Launchpads (directory-listing bots) |
Purchase high-quality links (paid services) | |
Leverage links from legacy projects with DA | |
Programmatic SEO (pSEO):
| |
Getting thoroughly indexed | |
Social Exposure | Launchpads (directory-listing bots) |
Reddit posts | |
Create AI Persona accounts (Reddit, Gravatar, X, LinkedIn, BlueSky, FB, etc.) | |
Social Media Warmup & Content Repurposing
| |
Answer-Engine Farming | |
HARO style reporter outreach | |
Cold emails / DMs Automated business outreach for free listings * | |
Long Term Product Building | Newsletter Building (Substack automation) |
Community building (Subreddit / Discord / Slack) | |
Competitor listing monitoring & outreach * |
In the coming weeks I’ll be breaking these down into agents and getting as many as I can done in a time boxed sprint.
My Hopes for Future AI Marketing Agents:
I really hope that this year we get to the point with AI agents where they can govern themselves, write their own tools, and pivot, even if in tiny ways, autonomously. It’d be awesome if they could:
- See growth hack opportunities (e.g. PayPal becoming massive via eBay)
- Think beyond their data (e.g. invent new ways of marketing)
- Interact with other AI marketing agents to form beneficial partnerships
… these are a way off, and when they come the whole internet will be a different thing.

Let’s just hope that the slop doesn’t drown us all.
Let’s see if I can make an AI Launch Marketing agent which does not spam!
